18. Potsdam/Zechlin covered goblet (c. 1760).

Both glass and original cover with gold gilt. The round funnel bowl has a facet cut base, roundels on the rim and gold gilt. The knopped and teared facet cut stem is also gilded and rests on a cut and polished gilded foot.There is some rubbing to gilding on the foot, possibly explained by the assumed habit that in Georgian times glasses were held by the foot when being drunk from.
