2. A massive ceremonial goblet with associated cover (c. 1680)

probably Netherlands or Bohemia. Goblets of this huge size were probably used at functions such as marriages and would be passed around for use in toasts.The huge bowl, with a capacity of just over 2L when full, has spiked gadrooning to it’s base over a hollow inverted Baluster knop collars above and below on a high conical folded foot.The cover, although period, is not original to the goblet.
